News from the Cookstown 100 pits
An impressive line-up has been secured for the KDM Hire Cookstown 100 road races on the Orritor circuit in Co Tyrone.
The event traditionally raises the curtain on the Irish national roads season and fans are in for a treat after a long winter, with Tyco Suzuki’s Guy Martin, Michael Dunlop on his Hunts/McAdoo Honda and William Dunlop on the Chris Dowd/Milwaukee Yamaha R6 taking centre stage.
The high-flying trio are among the main protagonists for international road racing silverware this year at the North West 200, Isle of Man TT and Ulster Grand Prix and will be gunning to tune up for May’s Vauxhall NW200 with a confidence-boosting series of results at Cookstown.
Factory Suzuki rider Martin, the Lincolnshire star loves competing at Cookstown and is relishing the chance to square off against the Dunlop boys.
“For me it doesn’t really matter what the weather is doing, but for the boys behind the hedges and organisers, I know they’d rather have it proper dry for a good day’s racing - I can deal with that,” he said.
“They always put out a top class field of riders at Cookstown, and with the two Dunlops on the grid, it should be a right good meeting.
